The unique offering of gothic image: The shop has always sold a hand-picked selection of books, from the latest award-winning fiction and non-fiction, through to psychology, spirituality and ancient myth. We also stock a good selection of children’s books as well as graphic novels and art books, always with something original to say.
Music, toys, gifts, cards, jewellery and clothes are also on sale, so that the shop really does cater for all the family, with something for everyone. Books, gifts and clothes are a successful mix, with books being the highest sellers.
During the summer months Glastonbury has many visitors both national and international. As a matter of course, a visit to Gothic Image is included in their schedule. Gothic Image is also very busy in the run-up to Christmas when people come from Bath and Bristol and our surrounding villages to find that special present.
The premises: The shop is located in the prime trading area of the town next door to the ancient 15th century Tribunal building which houses the Lake Village Museum. The Tourist Information Centre alone reports that each year more than 80,000 visitors pass through its doors. Our address, Number 7 High Street, is a Grade Two Listed Building. The three flats above the shop are separately owned on long-term leases.
What’s inside: The shop has been regularly refurbished and consists of lots of shelving, tables, and displays in natural wood, some with arches and distinctive features. The large front counter is made of white marble. The flooring is attractive black and white Italian checkerboard tiling. Entrance to the shop is through two glass doors 7ft x 3ft with brass handles.
