Cultural Heritage

Not so much a shop – more a way of life: Gothic Image was set up as a unique and pioneering shop in 1975, around the time Glastonbury Music Festival was nascent. The present directors acquired the company in 1979, since when it has grown substantially.

Over time Gothic Image has gained a strong national and international reputation. It has been featured on television and the print media many times over the years.

Today, Glastonbury and its surrounding area is experiencing another cultural evolution, with renowned restaurants and art galleries opening nearby, as well as an influx of younger people who want to be in an area of outstanding beauty and cultural interest. With regular druidic celebrations, Christian pilgrimages and pagan rites too, it’s a very special place to live.

Gothic Image is uniquely placed to address the needs of this changing culture. Its customers return time and again secure in the knowledge they will find fresh insights and alternative perspectives. This presents a rewarding and exciting opportunity for the new owners.

The shop has also been an ideal space for hosting book launch parties and author’s events including talks and book signings. There is no limit to the potential of what can be sold at this perfectly placed shop as long as it is interesting and quirky, with books always having the highest turnover of sales.
